Our Cattle are born and raised in the field where they roam stress free and graze every day. This gives them the opportunity to choose the natural balanced diet they require to grow and develop from calves to full grown cattle. The meat of Grass-fed cattle is top quality with high amounts of Omega 3, fatty acids, and Antioxidants like Vitamin E.

Our grass-fed cattle are finished off in a feedlot for 130 days prior to slaughter. While cattle are in feedlots, the animals are fed a carefully balanced controlled diet that usually includes corn, soybeans, forage and the necessary minerals and vitamins. They receive good care and have access to clean water.

Being grain-fed for a period of time helps improve meat quality. and provides a more tender and juicy product for consumers. Due to their diet, grain-fed beef tends to have whiter colored fat and typically has more marbling. The marbling is responsible for a richer, sweeter taste, a juicy, tender texture and is used when grading the quality of beef.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The SEAL OF QUALITY is a voluntary quality and hygiene certification programme developed by the Meat Board of Namibia with the aim to ensure the purchasing of safe and wholesome red meat and red meat products by consumers and customers at participating butcheries and retail red meat outlets.

The SEAL OF QUALITY strives to support the Namibian red meat industry and opposes the unfair trade of red meat and red meat products from foreign sources and informal slaughtering. The application of the SEAL OF QUALITY logo will stimulate trust in the quality and hygiene of red meat and red meat products sold in Namibian butcheries and red meat retail outlets.

Participating red meat and red meat product outlets in Namibia implement very high hygiene standards and source red meat from reputable sources. Consumers purchasing red meat and red meat products at certified outlets can be rest assured of the quality and hygiene of the product.

Red meat and red meat product outlets wanting to participate in the Seal of Quality Scheme have to comply with the Seal of Quality Standard as developed by the Meat Board and undergo intensive inspections prior to certification.  Annual self-audits are required and ad-hoc audits are conducted by the Meat Board for maintenance of Seal of Quality Certification.

For any inquiries regarding the Scheme, please contact Mr Petrus Maritz at: +264 61 275 847 or classification@nammic.com.na
